Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of 150 homeless men and women this winter? If so, then we have a great opportunity for you! On November 15th, Allegheny County’s Winter Emergency Shelters will open its doors for men and women. These shelters house about 150 men and women each night until March 15th. Because of the quality of our service this past winter, LIVING Ministry has been asked to serve more meals this upcoming year. Therefore, we are committing to serve on (8) Sundays from December 2nd to March 10th. It will take a lot of organizing, but we trust that this is an opportunity given to us by the Lord, and we want to take full advantage of it! There are ways for both individuals and groups to get involved. Please click here to get more information and sign up.

Serving Food for Cold Weather Shelter
T/W/TH November-March

Serve food for 100+ homeless men and women at the Winter Weather Shelter downtown

One of the things that we are trying to really do is change the culture of the shelter and the way food is served. In years past, men and women stood in long lines and had to eat their dinner on the ground. This year we have acquired tables and are having volunteers serve the men and women directly at tables. So far, the results have been staggering! People’s attitudes are changing, just because of how the food is served! We are working tirelessly to find groups to serve the meals, and have had pretty good success. But, we need volunteers to keep this going. Details are below.

When we need Servers:

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, November through March

Where to go:

620 Smithfield Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 (the Smithfield United Church of Christ)

When to arrive:
